This made me laugh

At work, someone left a current copy of Rolling Stone on my desk.  So I read it over lunch.  It had an article about the campaign and its various mile markers.

This quote is great and I’ve been reading it to everyone.

But thinking back on it now, I realize what an extraordinary accomplishment his [Obama's] getting this far has been. A man who wasn’t great would have blown this a hundred times along the way. So would a person who wasn’t extremely lucky. The historical seas literally parted for this Obama guy, with inconceivable idiocy and villainy littering the political shores on either side of him as he ascended to the pantheon of all-time American heroes simply by walking straight ahead and not being a dick.

Not to say he hasn’t worked hard, etc. etc.  But that might be one of the things I love about him most.  Yeah, he’s smart, well-spoken, pronounces nuclear properly and is level-headed but I love that he never, ever stoops to the level of those trying to bring him down.

Reminds me of a lyric that I totally want to attribute to J-Live, something about real victory being not ever having to go into combat.  But I’ve been searching the internet for like 45 minutes now and dozing off and I can’t find it.  Oh well . . .
