Cheating on some of you . . .

So I haven’t really been blogging too much since I moved.  I’m not entirely sure why that is.  I still think of things to blog, but then I don’t and the moment or thought or feelings behind the thought pass.

One factor I think is pretty big is that this is no longer my only online life.  Facebook has become time-consuming in a way MySpace never was.  I can update my status on Facebook and have more people read that than my blog, so I don’t have much incentive to come over here and write the same stuff.  (Not to mention stuff like Wordscraper (like Scrabble) or Word Challenge which can eat up astonishing amounts of time.)

Also, Twitter.  I have friends who follow me through Twitter and probably know FAR more than they need to about me.  I’m willing to bet that the people who follow me on Twitter or are friends with me on Facebook haven’t missed my blog updates.

This is partly why I put my Twitter updates back on my blog.  So I’m not completely ignoring my blog readers.

But to catch you up on a few things . . . we’re enjoying the new apartment and the neighbors are awesome.  There are a few straggling boxes we have to unpack, but for the most part I’m not emparrassed to have guests over.  The bike ride to work is fine, but I do miss my bayou route with the fish and the herons.

I’ve started using BookMooch and I don’t think I’ll ever purchase a book again. You sign up, post a few books you want to get rid of and if people want them, they’ll notify you.  You send them the books and then you get to notify owners of books YOU want.  Notify them and ta da! A book in your mailbox in a few days.  All you’re paying for is postage. It’s easy, cheap and good for the environment.

I’m leaving for another 10-day retreat on Wednesday. (So now there’s REALLY not going to be any blogging.  There goes NaBloPoMo.) It’s hard to believe I’ve been practicing Vipassana meditation for 5 years.  Speaking of which, I need to get ready for a group sit.
