I’m taking advantage of the power being back on (stay for a while please?) to post some photos that I was too tired to post earlier.
Something about the sound of rain hitting your windows as though that were its life goal, branches falling on the roof and things going “boom” in the distance makes it a little hard to sleep. I’m tired but my mind is racing, so I read David Sedaris with a bike headlamp until I fall asleep, only to wake an hour later to another loud sound and repeat the process.
And I have mixed up dreams about hurricanes and power outages and a lot of sisters and growing up in North Carolina.
Anyway, tonight before Ike REALLY started to do his thing (this must be what it’s like to be inside of a dishwasher when it’s running, it’s that loud and water is spraying at windows from all directions), we decided to go for a walk. The city was empty, so here are photos of us standing in the middle of the intersection of Richmond and Montrose.

Ha ha. I like that you’re wearing yellow with reflective stripes while “standing in the middle of the intersection of Richmond and Montrose.” That was… wise. Glad you made it through the hurricane – and this! We just sat it out inside the house, listening to, then watching sheds, trees, branches and fences fly by. I didn’t think of standing in the middle of a major intersection to add some drama! You’re such an adventurer!
