(Actually, this whole post is about how NOT to face your demon. I’m much better at that.)

It’s a new year. Last year, to help me with my debt, I made a line graph of all my credit card debt. The idea was that all the lines would be sloping downward at various degrees. Some yes, some . . . not so yes.

It’s time to do that again for 2008. I’ve always hated Excel, but I’m thinking I might use Numbers. Pages was fine, but if I wanted it to add up the total debt, it wasn’t so good for that.

Since I had the whole weekend open with that as my main goal, I’ve done all kinds of other things. I washed the sheets, swept and mopped the entire apartment, cleaned my bathroom, washed the dishes (even the Ziploc bags I’m trying to wash and reuse instead of throwing away), and cleaned my closet, which included finally properly storing all my Christmas things instead of shoving them in a corner of my closet. Oh, and I even washed the sliding glass doors to our patio. Outside, with a squeegee. It’s a huge improvement.

Last night I watched the original Thomas Crown Affair with Dave and oh my gosh, I want to own every outfit Faye Dunaway was wearing. ALL of them. Here are some images stolen from imdb.

And she was wearing the coolest watches with giant faces. Every time she was in a new scene, I was like, “Oh my God, her shoes! That watch! That coat!”

Which brings us back to the finances.

I was procrastinating working on my finances so bad that Dave could sense it surrounding me. He said it was the elephant in the room. So when I got up to mop after the movie, I said I was sorry about my elephant, but he’d be here for a bit longer. Dave said it was cool. He patted the couch, said they were pals and would watch TV together. Said his name was Bluto.

Bluto’s still here, hanging out while I blog. He’ll chill while we go for a bike ride at Brazos Bend State Park and look at alligators. Then when I come home, I’ll send him on his way. I have to, because this week work will be full of projects and I’ll need all my loose ends tied before Monday.
