Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage

It’s 9:49am Sunday morning and I am not on my bike.

We brought our bikes to Dallas because I wanted to ride Sunday morning on the White Rock Lake bike trail. It’s a 25 mile or so ride and I love it and was excited to take Dave on it.

It’s 31° but we brought all our warm riding stuff. The leg warmers, the fleece hat and glove liners, I even brought my fleece vest to wear under my biking jacket. Dave packed all our water bottles and our Camelbaks and our Gleukos packets. So this morning I woke him up, made us scrambled eggs and we went to get ready. I got out all my stuff, began putting on my socks and legwarmers and went to look for my shorts . . . and I didn’t pack them.

My padded cycling shorts! Probably the second most crucial piece of riding gear after shoes! And helmet, I guess. I am so disappointed. I completely sabotaged my own ride.

I looked through all my clothes and I said, “Maybe I could ride in my skinny jeans?”

“Babe, do you really want to ride your bike in your jeans?”

“Noooo. I mean, I guess I could if I was on a Huffy, but I certainly can’t ride a Bianchi in skinny jeans.”

Actually, that’s stupid. Maybe I CAN ride in my skinny jeans. It’s 12° warmer already. I’ll let you know.

UPDATE: It’s 1:33pm and I just showered after my bike ride.  We didn’t go around the lake, just rode to it and back for a total of 15 mi.  An easy ride, a beautiful morning.  Even in my skinny jeans, it was awesome.  I just felt kind of like a hipster.  Dave rode in jeans too to support me.  He’s The Awesome.

Best of luck to you! Nothing like a bike ride. Have you ever done Moab? My buddy, an avid cyclist, loves it like there’s no tomorrow. Cheers!
