Um, hi. I really don’t want to write about this. For starters, it’s too soon and I’ve also made such a big deal about it.
Okay. To begin, Dave’s throwing me a little wine/cheese soiree for my birthday tonight. Well, my Bday is tomorrow, but hey, it’s Saturday night. And I wanted my fish tank to look awesome so people could say, “Wow! Your fish tank looks awesome!”
Ego, I know.
So 2 days ago I decided to do a partial water change and changed about a third of the water in my tank. I did everything as usual- added the water conditioner, rinsed the filter, made sure the water was the same temperature as the water in the tank . . . and in the morning all 15 fish were dead. Well, 14 were but when I got home from work yesterday, the last one was dead.
This morning the water was all cloudy and one of my plants is losing its color, it’s turning clear. So I did a 3/4 water change and put in a new filter. The only thing I can even guess at is that I didn’t put in enough water conditioner. 10 years (off and on) of tank ownership and that’s the first time I’ve done THAT. IF that’s the reason my tank turned south.
This fish tank is my biggest tool for understanding the impermanence of all things.
So tonight at my party I will have a big fish tank full of pretty plants and a few snails, just like before.

Well at least your guests will know you cared enough to impress them…even if it turned deadly.
I hope you have a Happy 29th Birthday!!! I love you! Props to Dave for his soiree (sp?)
